Christopher Columbus, supposed "dicoverer" of the Americas
Signature AssignmentLynching Paper and Presentation
The subject to which my partner Julia West and I chose was lynching. A rather interesting, yet disturbing subject, at times I wished I had chosen a different subject because of the gruesome accounts that I had researched about. I believe we (Julia and I) properly showed the brutality of lynching. |
Overview of the classAt the beginning of Political Science and Diversity
in the U.S, Professor Gold told us that this class would challenge our current belief system and change our outlook on the United States. At the time my first impression was "Oh yeah, yeah whatever, he just wants to get rid of the students who do not actually want to try in the class", little did I know, he was not bluffing at all. We learned of the attrocities Columbus committed when he first arrived in Americas. We learned the ways in which racism and sexism still exists in our society today and what political, economic and social structures those racist and sexist beliefs (along with many other factors) are creating. So, when I say that Professor Gold was not bluffing, I sincerely mean it, my outlook and how I live my daily life (mostly my thoughts) have changed a good deal. Whether it is a good thing or not is still to be determined but, overall I thoroughly enjoyed the class, even if at times it seemed like nothing was done, it was as if we were a political science class! |
